Cheyenne Bottoms is a wetland in the central great plains of North America . it occupies around 41,000 acres in Central Kansas. The entire wetland occupies a natural land sink that makes it pretty unique. It is the largest wetland in the interior of the United States. It is a critical stopping point for the Central flyway for millions of migrating birds.
In 1925, the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission was created to develop and care for the Bottoms.
The birds that rest and feed their on their migration between the Northern Great Plains and Arctic summer breeding grounds and the southern winter ranges along the Gulf Coast, Caribbean and in South America.
